Marie Hardacre began her nursing journey in 1993 when she qualified as a Registered Nurse at Leeds Teaching Hospitals. Since joining DBTH in 1999, she has dedicated her career to serving the community and improving healthcare outcomes. Over the years, Marie has worked in various wards encompassing different specialties, allowing her to acquire a diverse range of skills and knowledge.
In 2001, Marie’s exceptional leadership qualities led to her appointment as a Ward Sister. Her dedication and expertise continued to flourish, resulting in her progression to the role of Ward Manager, which she held for a number of years. In 2014, Marie was appointed to her first Matron post for Bassetlaw Hospital, where she oversaw the Emergency Department and medical wards.
Building on her accomplishments, Marie assumed the position of Head of Nursing for the Division of Medicine’s inpatient wards and urgent and emergency care in 2017, covering all three sites at DBTH and in recent years, Marie’s responsibilities extended to include patient safety and quality, making her the ideal candidate for the role of Associate Chief Nurse.
Expressing her pride and enthusiasm, Marie Hardacre said, “I am so proud to have been appointed as the new Associate Chief Nurse for Patient Safety and Quality. As a local resident, I remain deeply committed to improving the care we provide at DBTH. What good care means to our patients and their families has always been my driving force for improvement, along with understanding the needs of our dedicated care teams.”
Karen Jessop, Chief Nurse at Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals, remarked, “We are thrilled to welcome Marie Hardacre to her new role as Associate Chief Nurse for Patient Safety and Quality. Marie’s wealth of experience and demonstrated dedication to delivering exceptional care make her an invaluable asset to our team. Her expertise and leadership will be instrumental in ensuring the consistent delivery of high-quality, safe clinical care across the Trust.”
In her new role, Marie will report to the Deputy Chief Nurse and work closely with the Chief Nurse and Executive Medical Director to provide strong professional leadership within the realm of patient safety and quality. Collaborating with colleagues across the Trust, Marie will help support the delivery of safe care while leading the direction of DBTH’s Quality Strategy. Her focus will be on implementing effective processes, systems, and training frameworks to empower the staff and ensure safe, high-quality care for patients.
