Students
As a team, we provide placement opportunities for student Speech and Language Therapists from the University of Sheffield and have arranged placements in partnership with other universities.
If you are a student and you have been allocated a placement with us at Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals (DBTH), we look forward to meeting you. You can find more information in our Student Placement Pack
Our team consists of Speech and Language Therapists (SLTs) and Speech and Language Therapy Assistants (SLTAs). We work at different locations including community clinics, mainstream schools and special schools, and Child Development Centres (CDC).
The clients that you will see depends on who your practice educator/s are. Our expectations of you during your placement will depend on the stage of the course that you are at, and your own personal aims for the placement.
If you have been allocated a practice educator, you should have been sent details on which you can contact them. You can also contact the Children’s SLT Team on 01302 642633 or dbth.saltstudents@nhs.net
Your practice educator will let you know if they require you to do any prior reading or extra preparation for your placement. On your first day, you should bring your Student Placement Handbook and details of the placement requirements such as tasks that you need to complete. You will also need to bring your student ID, and a notebook to record any observations you make during the placement. You should also check with your practice educator if there is anything else you should bring such as DBS certificate.
Work Experience
