The gifts, carefully chosen to bring festive cheer, are expected to bring smiles to the faces of patients during what can be a challenging time. Colleagues from Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals (DBTH) expressed deep gratitude for the League’s generous gesture, which has become a cherished part of the holiday season for the hospital community.
Reverend Jonathan Ginever, Hospital Chaplain at Bassetlaw Hospital who collaborates closely with the League, said: “We are incredibly grateful to the Bassetlaw League of Friends for their continued generosity and support. The annual gift drop-off has become a touching tradition that our patients look forward to, and it truly makes a difference during the holiday season.
“No-one wants to be in hospital over the festive period and receiving a gift really does help to spread cheer during what can be a challenging time for patients and their families.”
Through their continued annual fundraising initiatives, the League has donated a number of valued items to Bassetlaw across all areas over the last 30 years. These not only include medical equipment and mobility aids, but also personal comforts such as televisions, armchairs, pillows, toys, specialised furniture, and even cooling fans during hot weather conditions.
The League of Friends has also made notable contributions towards the development of the Rainbow Garden at Bassetlaw, further showcasing their dedication to improving the hospital environment and providing visitors with a quiet and peaceful space for reflection.
Most recently, the League joined the Hospital Chaplaincy team for their annual carol service which was broadcast live on the Trust’s radio station for patients to tune into across all three hospital sites.
