Once embedded within the Trust, these dedicated individuals will play a vital role in delivering exceptional care, contributing to the well-being and recovery of patients.
At present, the Trust employs around 3,000 nurses, midwives and HCAs, with these colleagues making up almost one half of the entire workforce at DBTH. Additionally, the Trust has the distinction of training around 30% of all healthcare professionals within the region.
Midwives are essential members of the healthcare team who provide specialized care to women throughout pregnancy, childbirth, and the postnatal period. They offer guidance, support, and medical expertise to ensure safe and positive birthing experiences for both mother and baby. Midwives provide essential antenatal and postnatal care, promote maternal well-being, and ensure the smooth transition into parenthood.
Nurses are the backbone of healthcare, providing holistic care and support to patients across various clinical settings. They possess a wide range of skills and knowledge to deliver quality care, including administering medications, assessing patients, planning care and implementing treatments, providing emotional support, and coordinating multidisciplinary care. Nurses play a safety critical crucial role in monitoring patients’ conditions, promoting health and well-being, and ensuring effective communication between patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
Finally, healthcare assistants are integral members of the healthcare team, providing valuable support and assistance to nurses and other healthcare professionals. They perform essential tasks such as personal care, helping with mobility, monitoring vital signs, and ensuring the comfort and safety of patients. Healthcare assistants play a vital role in maintaining a clean and organized environment, contributing to the overall quality of patient care.
Speaking about the successful campaign, Karen Jessop, Chief Nurse at Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals, said, “I am so pleased to welcome our new cohort of midwives, nurses, and healthcare assistants to the DBTH family. We are fortunate to have such talented individuals joining our team, and we are confident that they will make a significant impact on the lives of our patients. Whilst we will have to wait until September for the majority to join us, I want to wish them all the very best and I hope they will have a long and fruitful career with us.”
The recruitment of these healthcare professionals aligns with DBTH’s ongoing efforts to enhance the delivery of care within the Trust. In addition to attracting new members of the team, DBTH is developing plans to retain and support existing colleagues, aiming to be the best possible employer it can be.
The Trust is also placing significant emphasis on international recruitment, with more than 100 registered nurses joining the organisation from overseas since 2020. With regular recruitment initiatives, those interested in joining the Trust are encouraged to visit www.dbth.nhs.uk where jobs and opportunities are advertised.
