The majority of colleagues at Doncaster Royal Infirmary, Bassetlaw Hospitals and Montagu Hospital wear uniforms, scrubs, and lots of PPE designed to keep patients safe so they cannot wear a Christmas jumper.
In response, the charity has come up with ‘Festive Sock Day’ so everyone can join in with a colourful pair of socks or tights and walk alongside their NHS heroes for the day.
The DBTH Charity is planning the event on Monday, 4 December as part of National Sock Day (or supporters can host on a day of your choice) and wants people to join in by wearing their own festive socks and make a suggested donation of £2 for taking part.
You can sign up to take part or make a donation online here https://dbthcharity.co.uk/festive-socday/
Sarah Dunning, Fundraising Manager for the hospital charity, said: “Taking part in Festive Sock Day is such a fun, easy way to support your local hospitals. The funds you raise really do make a difference and it helps us fund projects such as the small things like teddy bears for children spending their first night in hospital, enhancements to our environment such as artwork to make clinical spaces less overwhelming to the bigger things like specialist bereavement suites for families going through the heartache of baby loss.”
The charity hopes individuals, businesses, schools and community groups will get into the festive spirit on December 4, get out their favourite Christmas socks and make a donation.
Core services are funded by the NHS but the trust relies on the charity to pay for additional extras which could include equipment, patient comforts, staff education, and research, which go above and beyond NHS funded services.
