A four year old girl has donated some of her toys to the Fred and Ann Green Eye Centre at Doncaster Royal Infirmary for children to enjoy when they attend the clinic for appointments.
Kind-hearted Lacey Jackson, from the Hexthorpe area of Doncaster, has given an assortment of her toys including a bright red wooden pram, Upsy Daisy doll and play sets for the newly created children’s play area in the Eye Centre.
Lacey, who is a patient at the clinic, recently called in to see her toys during a visit to the hospital with her Grandmother, Debbie Jackson.
Debbie said: “Lacey has been so excited to see the toys again. She has countless toys, too many to play with and I thought it would be a good idea to ask her if she wanted to give some toys to the hospital for other children to enjoy.
“She’s been raised to share and look after others, and even though she is just four years old she was very grown up about it and hand-picked the toys she wanted to donate. She enjoyed playing with the toys in the clinic and knows that they are for all the children to play with. I am very proud of her.”
The Doncaster Eye Centre, which was officially opened in November 2016, has a new children’s clinic with consulting rooms styled and decorated to suit younger patients and improved facilities for minor operations and eye injections.
Emma Foxon-Wise, Ophthalmology Sister, said: “We are thrilled with the toys that Lacey has chosen to give us. It is not every day that a child gives up some of their toys for others and I want to say a huge thank you to Lacey on behalf of everyone at the hospital for being so kind and thoughtful. They are a lovely addition to our children’s play area and bring a smile to our young patients while waiting for their appointments.”
