The family of a patient have returned to Doncaster Royal Infirmary to say thank you and present a fantastic donation of almost £1,200 to the hospital’s Acute Medical Unit (AMU).
Roger Fox sadly passed away on 19 April, having being cared for on the AMU for three days. Raising £1,198, Roger’s wife Christine, daughter Claire and son Matt visited the ward earlier this month to present the donation, as well as their thanks to the team.
The funds were collected from friends and family, preferring that any money spent on funeral flowers instead be used to help patients at Doncaster Royal Infirmary, in memory of the much-missed husband and father.
Claire Moorhouse, Roger’s daughter, said: “We had excellent and professional staff looking after dad on the Acute Medical Unit. They didn’t just look after him but also the entire family, and we couldn’t have asked for better care at such a difficult time. They really helped us through it all and we couldn’t think of a better cause to donate to.”
The amazing sum will be put to good use, enhancing care for patients on the AMU.
Lindsey Stocks, Ward Sister, said: “On behalf of the Trust, I want to say a huge thank you to Christine, Claire and Matt, and everyone who contributed, for this donation. Our staff always strive to provide excellent care but generous donations like this are what we rely on for all of the extra bits that can make our patients feel more comfortable, making their experience that much better.”
