Local hospitals introduce weekly fruit and vegetable stalls

Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals (DBTH) is offering the opportunity for staff and visitors to pick up some fresh produce, as they embark upon a partnership with a local green grocers.

From Tuesday 17 August, Karen and Nigel’s ‘Fresh and Local’ fruit and vegetable stall will set up shop, offering doctors, nurses and other health professionals the opportunity to grab a healthy bite to eat from the hours of 8am and 1pm on set days on each of the Trust’s hospital sites:

  • Montagu Hospital: Every Monday (from 23 August), outside the Fred an Ann Green Rehab Centre.
  • Bassetlaw Hospital: Every Tuesday (from 17 August), outside of the main entrance of the hospital, inside a little white gazebo.
  • Doncaster Royal Infirmary: Every Thursday (from 19 August), outside of Gate 4 and inside the marquee.

Speaking about this latest development at DBTH, Dr Kirsty Edmondson Jones, Director of Estates and Facilities, said: “This is a fantastic development, and I can’t wait for our colleagues, visitors and patients to see it in action.

“We are always looking for new opportunities to improve the services we offer to both our workforce and visitors, and we are pleased to be working with Karen and Nigel to bring a pop-up grocery to DBTH. We have some more ideas and developments cooking away in the background, so watch this space!”

The Fresh and Local stall will be available under a marque or gazebo on all sites at the designated places. Individuals will be asked to maintain social distancing whilst queuing to get their goods, as well as wear an appropriate face covering.
