Rainbow Gardens

This campaign is now fully funded – we want to say a huge ‘thank you’ to all of those who have donated.

The gardens be created in their honour and will be dedicated spaces for families and colleagues to visit, a calm and peaceful place,  to remember those loved ones we have lost.  To date 200 people have sadly died at the Trust from Covid-19, including our two beloved colleagues.

During the pandemic the rainbow has become a symbol of support for the NHS and it feels fitting that we create rainbow gardens in memory of those we have sadly lost.

We are asking the people of Doncaster and Bassetlaw for their support in helping to raise;

• £25k to create a garden at DRI and Bassetlaw Hospital sites
• £30k to commission the materials to create a memorial at DRI for lost colleagues
• £35k to purchase additional tables and benches to be located across all sites for patients and staff to enjoy

However there is no limit and whatever we raise will be used to make our hospitals better places to be.

** Rainbow Garden Appeal Update (24 August 2020) **

Since the appeal was launched in June 2020 we have been inundated with offers of support from our brilliant local communities, thank you so much to everyone who has been in touch to offer everything from benches to plants!  We hope work on the Rainbow Garden at Bassetlaw Hospital will commence mid September.  The work on the garden will be carried out by J P Fox Services of Worksop who will be providing their services free of charge.  We are very grateful to John and Carolyn Fox for their support and we’re so excited to see the finished product!

At DRI Elaine Cresswell from reShaped has visited the site and we are waiting on Elaines design plan which we will share as soon as we receive them.  Thank you to David from AWS Landscapes for their continued support.

At Montagu Hospital a lasting memorial will be added to the current Fred and Ann Green Garden.
