An opportunity to showcase health and social care careers to inspire the next generation.
We Care into the Future is a unique health and social care careers event, where students are introduced to a wide range of job opportunities within health and social care.
Organised in partnership between Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals (DBTH), Hall Cross Academy and other health, social care and educational organisations in the area, ‘We Care – Into the Future’ allows young people to understand what the NHS and care sector has to offer upon completing school. Clinical teams specialised in training and delivering care give students an insight into the real world of health and social care work.
The event is a highly interactive experience, where students are guided through a simulation corridor that demonstrates a patient’s journey from the community to the emergency department, operating theatres, a hospital ward and back to the community. From there, our young people are able to speak to specialists from approximately 350 different careers who represent the many career pathways through examples of practice, games, quizzes and interactive models and displays.
The event is open to all secondary schools within the area to invite their year eight students to the day. Last year, the event saw many more schools sign up to take part, with around 700 attendees in 2022.
If you would like to sponsor the We Care into the Future event, please get in touch with Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals Charity who will be able to offer you ideas and support for donating to this important event.
A recap on the previous years’ We Care into the Future event
Students attending last year tell us what they enjoyed about the day.
Susan Brain England OBE, Chair of the Board at DBTH, and Simon Swain, Principal at Hall Cross Academy, share why ‘We Care into the Future’ is important for our young people, our communities and the local health and social care sector.
We have captured some of the moments from previous years, which show the interactive nature of the event. Visit the previous event page here
